  Imagine the least helpful bike shop you have ever visited - then try this place. I'm in on business from Asia and arranged ahead of time for a Pivot rental for my free day. Showed up at 10 AM when they opened to pick up the kit. The weather being a bit rainy lately, and not being from the area, I asked about trail conditions, closure, where to ride, etc. What I got was 'I don't know, haven't ridden in ages.' 'Over and over - 'we know nothing.' Does anyone here ride?' 'Yeah me, but I'm not all that interested in it - I pretty much just work and ski on my day off.' Do you have any maps? 'No.' Are the trails closed? 'I don't know.' And a dozen reminders about not bringing the bike back muddy. If you bring it back muddy, we are going to charge you. But you can't clean it with your hose because you don't know how to clean a bike. So you can pretty much count on being charged. Don't clean the bike yourself. This repeated over and over until I finally said 'Can we talk about riding information and not focus on cleaning the bike?' Which only pretty much ended it because there is no riding information. I left with no bike. The single data point I leaned today was not about all the great riding in the area, but that clearly these folks HATE cleaning bikes and clearly they don't mountain bike. Note to Tread: don't hire people who aren't passionate about bikes and riding. And have them take some customer service classes. Riders: if you are coming to town, try a different shop.
